Jamaica: Amazing Grace: Tropical Storm warning lifted, major flooding reported

The Meteorological Service is reporting that the tropical storm warning has been discontinued for Jamaica, as Tropical Storm Grace continues on a path away from the island.

Reports from the Met Office is that a number of communities were flooded and roadways were damaged as heavy rains and winds drenched and pounded the island, ravaging property and downing trees and a number of utility poles and powerlines along the way

Meanwhile, radar imagery on Tuesday confirmed that the eastern and central parishes received most of the heavy rainfall from the tropical storm, with measurements exceeding 77 millimetres or three inches in a number of parishes.

There were reports of flooding in Portland, Kingston, St Andrew and St Thomas, and damage was reported in St Mary.
