T&T athletes Andwuelle Wright and Sparkle Ann McKnight have both tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t be able to participate in their respective events at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games tomorrow.
The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) confirmed that the athletes, along with long-jump coach Wendell Williams, received positive test results following daily routine saliva antigen tests at the Olympic Village.
Wright was scheduled to compete in the Men’s Long Jump while McKnight was due to run in the Women’s 400m hurdles event.
McKnight, 29, competed at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, while Wright, 23, was set to make his first appearance at the Summer Games.
The three members are now in quarantine at the approved isolation hotel facility for foreign athletes and officials.
