The hospitals are aware of their social responsibility and deeply regret that they will no longer be able to serve patients who sign up for outpatient laboratory services from August 1, 2021. This is reported by the National Hospital Council (NZR).
The stretch at the hospitals has also expired and they can no longer handle the flow of outpatients without compromising the care of the inpatient.
On July 17, 2021, an announcement from all health insurers established in Suriname and the State Health Insurance Fund (SZF) appeared in the media. This announcement states that insured persons can turn to the hospital laboratories for laboratory services without payment. This announcement was made without prior consultation with the hospitals, NZR said.
Nevertheless, the hospitals have so far cooperated in this and helped as much as possible all patients who applied. However, this is no longer sustainable for hospitals.
