Summer classes and external examinations at the Hyde’s Group of Schools at Ferry on Mandela Highway on the St Catherine/St Andrew border have been disrupted following a fire that destroyed a section of the institution on Thursday morning.
“No one was injured in the incident, but a section of the school’s administration office was destroyed,” said a school official at the complex.
Reports are that about 8:30am, teachers and students were stopped in their tracks after they turned up for classes.
“From I was heading to school I saw smoking coming from the direction of the school and started to worry,” said a student.
The incident triggered nervous moments for some parents who rushed to the institution to check on their children.
