A second woman is dead in less than a week from motor vehicle plunges into the Rio Cobre along the Bog Walk Gorge in St Catherine, this time on Monday morning.
The first incident occurred late last week when a Suzuki Vitara jeep with a lone woman inside, plunged into the riverbed. The occupant died in the vehicle before community divers in the area could rescue her from the waters.
On Monday, a bus which plies the Linstead to Spanish Town route collided with a Nissan AD Wagon motorcar before swerving into the dark surging waters of the Rio Cobre.
In addition to the deceased, nine other persons were injured in the incident.
The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the police force confirmed the incident which reportedly occurred at about 9:15 am.
The deceased woman still unidentified up to the time of publication.
The Bog Walk Gorge roadway that meanders alongside the Rio Cobre has figured in numerous major vehicular collisions and consequent fatalities over the years.
