The new exchange rate that applies as of 12.30 pm shows a slight decrease. At 10:00 am, the opening rates were set at SRD 20.862 to SRD 20.996 for the US dollar. From 12.30 pm the following exchange rate applies: SRD 20,845 (purchase) to SRD 20,976 (sale) for the dollar.
The exchange rate has been released as of today. This is achieved through supply and demand. Over the weekend, the Central Bank of Suriname (CBvS) announced that the bandwidth with a minimum and maximum selling rate for the US dollar, set as of March 1, 2021, will expire.
As of today, a flexible exchange rate system will be used, whereby the CBvS publishes the exchange rate on a daily basis at three times. These are the times of 10 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The weighted average buying and selling prices are calculated on the basis of the transaction volumes and the exchange rates of the general banks and exchange offices.
