Trinidad & Tobago: Expired ID cards valid until December 2021

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) has again extended the validity of identification cards currently expired or due to expire in 2021.

These cards will continue to be valid until December 31, 2021.

The EBC advised institutions that these ID cards are valid and should be accepted when presented by members of the public.

The Commission said the extension of the expiry date of identification cards is instituted in accordance with Registration Rules 31 (5) and (6) of the Representation of the People Act, Chapter 2:01.

The extension is in addition to the one implemented in December, 2020.

The EBC explained that the additional extension was necessary largely as a result of the public health regulations and its effects on the Commission’s operations.

The extension will facilitate those persons who are unable, at this time, to make an appointment to renew their expired ID cards due to the temporary closure of the EBC’s Call Centre.
