Montego Bay Mayor, Leeroy Williams, has ordered a probe into allegations that a female vendor was physically assaulted by a private security guard at Charles Gordon Market in Montego Bay, St James on Saturday, May 8.

The mayor has committed that upon completion of the probe, if the allegations are found to be true, the necessary actions will be taken by the St James Municipal Corporation (SJMC).

Williams condemned all acts of violence, especially against women.

“The St James Municipal Corporation will be leaving no stone unturned in getting full details of the alleged incident,” stated a release from the corporation.

The allegations are that on Saturday, a private security guard employed by the municipal corporation got into an altercation with a female vendor.
