The pooling of entrepreneurs is necessary in order to acquire international funds. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are going down due to the current COVID pandemic revenues. Minister Saskia Walden of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation (EZ) acknowledged this during an introductory visit of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises in Suriname (Akmos).
The minister encouraged entrepreneurs to use the scarce resources to create opportunities that should lead to job creation. Walden believes that better conditions must be created to improve the business climate. It is also important that entrepreneurs join forces and cooperate in order to benefit from available international funds.
Companies and entrepreneurs will receive the necessary support at all times through the Ministry of Economic Affairs. During this meeting, the Minister also presented the three directorates and their specific policy areas. The minister also discussed, among other things, improving the ‘ease of doing business’, the Annual Accounts Act, ratification of the EPA and barriers in the field of export.
