A St Andrew security guard, accused of beating his ex-lover after she caught him leaving Whispers hotel with another woman, has been freed of assault after filing a police report against the complainant.
The assault trial was halted by the trial judge to allow the accused, Joel Williams, to file the report.
During proceedings Tuesday, Williams’ attorney Able-Don Foote pointed out that the complainant had made an admission of a criminal offence in her statement to the police.
The accused’s recounting of the incident on February 15 – one day after Valentine’s Day – triggered muffled laughter in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
“I was leaving an establishment with another female when she jumped through the driver’s window of my car and scratched the other female,” Joel Williams told the court.
