Twenty-one people died and about 30 were injured in a car crash along National Route #1 in Arcahaie, the historic Northwestern town about 25 miles from Port-au-Prince.
The fatal wreck happened Wednesday, after a minibus passed one vehicle and collided with a bus coming from the opposite direction, witnesses told Civil Protection.
Civil Protection and Red Cross workers reported to the scene and transported injured residents to the hospital.
Arcahaie is the historic site of the independence ceremony where leaders of the Haitian Revolution unveiled Haiti’s flag on May 18, 1803.
