Utilda Joseph, 96, was strangled to death.
This was confirmed by an autopsy which was performed at the Forensic Science Center in St James.
Joseph, who was one week away from her 97th birthday, was from Hillview Lane, Quarry Village.
She was found dead on Sunday morning when relatives went to check on her.
One of her hands was tightly bound, and there was blood on her mouth and bed.
Several personal items, including bank cards and accounting books, were missing.
The funeral service is being arranged for tomorrow at 11 am at Quarry RC Church.
