Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Kazim Hosein, offered sincere condolences following the death of Municipal Police Officer Anisha Sookdeo in a vehicular accident yesterday.
In a statement last night, Hosein said Sookdeo and two other officers were heading east on the Priority Bus Route (PBR) when the incident, which involved a red-band maxi taxi, took place.
According to the statement, Sookdeo passed away some hours after the accident, while two other officers are still hospitalised.
‘On behalf of the members of staff at the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government and myself, I wish to express sincerest condolences to the family and friends of WPC Anisha Sookdeo.’
‘Earlier today, three Municipal Police Officers were involved in a vehicular accident heading east on the Priority Bus Route. WPC Sookdeo was reported to have passed away a few hours ago while CPL Keith Alexander and WPC Diana Seetaram are under the care of doctors at the Mt. Hope Hospital.’
