Uber, a ride-hailing giant in the United States has announced plans to launch its services in Jamaica.
The company, on Monday, invited people to sign up virtually via http://drivers.uber.com, as the app will soon become in Kingston, which will serve as a test market for the transportation business.
“Soon, Uber’s app will be available in Kingston and you will have a new alternative to earn moving around the city,” the email said.
Uber Technologies Inc is a peer-to-peer ridesharing, taxi cab, food delivery, and transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco, California, with operations in over 700 cities worldwide.
Uber fees and commissions are typically made up of booking fees as well as per minute and mile fee paid by passengers. Drivers usually end up with the majority of the fares since Uber charges a services fee of 25 per cent.
