The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (MinOWC) has shortened the Easter holidays by one week. The Easter holidays start on April 1 and last until April 11. The schools will start again on April 12.
The ministry has reported this in a letter to the school leaders, directors of all primary, secondary and vos schools. The ministry explains that the extension of the Christmas holidays and the COVID-free days afterwards has meant that effective teaching days have been canceled. As a result, the supply of subject matter has not been adequately provided.
Distance education has also not been optimally implemented. This is because not all students have access to Wi-Fi. The teaching packages did not reach them regularly either. This has prompted the ministry to shorten the Easter holidays by one week.
