A man charged with attempted murder was released from Rikers Island by accident — just over a week after a clerical error cut free a murder suspect, authorities said.
Nikim Meekins, 22, was arrested on March 10 on a pair of felony charges connected to a shooting last summer and was held on $30,000 bail, court records show.
Meekins appeared in a Bronx courtroom on those charges Monday, in which bail was reduced to $1 — and a pending indictment on an attempted murder charge, a court spokesperson said.
The clerk, though, mistakenly marked Meekins to be released on the attempted murder case instead of being held on $300,000 bail, the court spokesman said.
“The clerk annotated the paperwork as $1 bail on the gun case correctly but mistakenly indicated ROR on the attempted murder case,” the spokesman said.
