Trinidad & Tobago: JTUM expresses solidarity with NIB staff protesting for wage increases

The Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM) is expressing solidarity with workers of the National Insurance Board (NIB).

This comes after staff protested outside the company’s head office at the Queens Park Savannah on Monday over news that the government was unable to pay the wage increases negotiated by their union – the Public Services Association.

In a press release on Monday, JTUM sought to remind the Government that collective bargaining was the law of the land.

“This process allows both employers (the NIB and the government in this case) and workers’ representatives to treat and negotiate on the terms and conditions of employment. Collective bargaining also provides a forum to resolve disputes.”
