An 84-year-old businessman has been charged with two counts of sexual offences against a minor.
Chairman of NH International, Emile Elias has been ordered to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate virtually, on March 24 to answer the charges.
He’s accused of sexual grooming and the sexual penetration of a 17-year-old girl.
The victim reported that the incidents took place on September 1 and November 30, 2019.
The charges were laid on Wednesday night. Elias was granted station bail at $100,000 at the West End Police Station.
He is being represented by attorneys Gilbert Peterson SC and John Heath.
Elias’ firm had several contracts with the government and private sector and operates all over the Caribbean.
