The body of a 26-year-old woman who went missing more than four months ago turned up Wednesday in the trunk of an abandoned car in Queens, according to authorities.
Department of Sanitation workers made the grisly discovery after popping the trunk of a dark sedan with no plates that they were towing from 150-08 Lefferts Boulevard in South Ozone just before 10 a.m., according to police.
The tow truck driver was searching for a spare tire after the car stopped moving, officials said.
Police sources said the body is that of Destini Smothers, a Troy woman who went missing on Nov. 3.
The mother of two young children was last seen late that night leaving Bowlero bowling alley in Woodside, where she attended a birthday party with her boyfriend, according to a missing person’s report
