World Bank officials have approved a $75 million grant through the International Development Association (IDA) to finance Haiti’s fight against food insecurity, natural disasters and health crisis like the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The aid is part of an effort to establish a social safety net through the Adaptive Social Protection for Increased Resilience (ASPIRE) project.
“Social protection systems have the potential to enhance human capital, reduce inequality, build resilience, and end cycles of poverty,” said Javier Suarez, World Bank Acting Head of Operations in Haiti
