Haiti’s first hydroelectric barrier dam in over 70 years is 97 percent complete, President Jovenel Moïse tweeted on Sunday. The Marion River barrier being built is located in the Northeastern Department.
“This dam will facilitate the production of energy and the storage of water for consumption and irrigation. I owe it to the Northeastern Department,” Moïse said. “The Marion Dam clearly shows what goodwill, good vision and a strong team can do when there’s stability.”
