Suriname: Staff at the National Hospital also have doubts about AstraZeneca vaccine

Internally, there are various opinions about whether or not to take the AstraZeneca vaccine by the staff at ‘s Lands Hospital. According to Dayasankar Mathoera, general director of the ‘s Lands Hospital, the hospital management had an information and motivation session with the frontline workers. She was able to convince them of the necessity of the vaccination, so that the vaccination program in the hospital could be started.

The vaccination program in the fight against the COVID-19 virus has also started at ‘s Lands Hospital. As of Tuesday, it will be possible to vaccinate the front-line workers of this hospital in their own facility with the AstraZeneca vaccine. The Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP) and the Regional Hospital Wanica (RZW) have started vaccinating their healthcare staff earlier. The ‘s Lands Hospitaal is the second largest hospital in our country, where COVID-19 infected people who are in need of care are nursed.

“The resistance was significantly less than before. We will persuade those who still have no idea what to do, because it is a necessity that everyone who comes into contact with COVID-19 patients must be vaccinated, ”says Mathoera.
