In the absence of guidance from the existing law to break the ongoing Tobago House of Assembly (THA) impasse, Parliament must intervene to offer a solution.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley made the statement as he addressed Parliament on the THA Amendment Act, which is currently being debated in the House.
He said proposals from interested parties to immediately grant Tobago self-governance and to institute a council of elders are nothing more than “suggestions” because they are “not law”.
