Police have held the 66-year-old man that was wanted for the rape of a 24-year-old mentally disabled woman.
The suspect was held yesterday evening. He was hiding in a camp in the forests off Guaico Trace, Sangre Grande.
The suspect was held in an operation coordinated by Snr Supt Khan and Insp Callender, supervised by Sgt Harper and Cpl Ramnarine of the Eastern Division Special Operations Unit.
It also included PC Cielto, PC Singh and PC Samuel.
The suspect was on the run since Sunday when a report of the abuse was officially made to the police.
Police believe that the woman may have been victimized repeatedly in the past.
