The Federation of Surinamese Farmers (FSA) has advised Minister Parmanand Sewdien of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (LVV) to use the information department optimally to inform society in detail about various issues affecting the department. According to the FSA, experts should have the floor to technically illuminate subjects, so that the agricultural sector can develop further positively. This proposal was recently made during a discussion with the minister.
Recently, the Ministry of LVV has been negatively positioned in the news by various authorities and interest groups. The FSA experiences this as very undesirable for farmers, growers and agricultural entrepreneurs who work every day in all kinds of weather for the production and development of the agricultural sector.
During the meeting with the farmers, the minister addressed point by point the case of Guyanese fishermen who are allowed to fish in the Corantijn River, the Cevihas issue, rehabilitation of the Arawara lock, increase production of the rice sector and COVID-19 support for farmers.
