Police said an autopsy conducted on the body of Andrew Morris, a suspect held for questioning in connection with the kidnapping and death of Andrea Bharatt, showed he was beaten to death.

Loop News was told that Morris, who had been in hospital after allegedly resisting officers and needing to be subdued, died as a result of blunt force trauma while at hospital on February 1 around 12:45am.

His post mortem was performed yesterday at the Forensic Science Center in St James.

According to investigators, members of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) went to Morris’ home at Tumpuna Road, Arima, around 3.30 am on January 31 where they informed him of the kidnapping report and that he was under arrest.
