CEPEP workers collected an astounding 2,200 bags of garbage at the launch of its 2021 beach clean-up programme in Manzanilla.

In a statement, the CEPEP Company Limited said approximately 450 CEPEP workers and 35 contractors carried out beach clean-up operations at the Manzanilla Beach Resort last Friday, collecting a whopping 2,200 bags of garbage.

‘By lunchtime, 2,200 bags of garbage including plastics, styrofoam, fishing nets and textiles were collected. Workers also cleared mounds of sargassum which had accumulated over miles of the coastline.’

The company said the programme was officially launched in July 2019 and has seen several beaches such as Carat Shed Beach in La Brea, Dean’s Bay in Chaguaramas and La Retreat Beach in Moruga being cleaned on a continuous basis.
