A 15-year-old is in police custody after he allegedly robbed a police officer.
The victim is a 43-year-old officer, attached to the San Fernando Police Station. He told investigators that at about 10.10pm on Tuesday, he parked his silver Chevrolet Cruz at his mother’s house in Penal, when he was confronted by two young men.
The men, Loop News was told, looked to be between 15 and 18 years old.
One of the men pulled out a firearm and announced a hold up and relieved the officer of his vehicle. The officer took note of the descriptions of the two people and complied with the orders. They then entered his vehicle and drove off.
The officer then notified his colleagues and a team of officers led by PC Khaleel and PC Hosein responded. They went to Station 10 Road, Penal, where the stolen vehicle was spotted.
The two suspects, in an attempt to evade the police vehicle, lost control of the car and crashed into steel pipes at the side of the road.
The cops approached the car and one of the suspects was detained, while the other fled the scene. The suspect was a 15-year-old from Lowkie Trace, Penal.
