The Independent Electoral Bureau (OKB) has been strengthened with the most recent entry of its members. This was said by OKB chairman Sheik Alibaks at the swearing-in of two members and an alternate member.
These are Anne-Marel Linger, Felicia Patterson (members) and Anushka Ramesar-Gopalrai (alternate member). “We know the qualities of these ladies. It is a very joyful moment for the OKB. The OKB counts on their efforts, knowledge and skills, ”said Alibaks. The OKB chairman expressed the hope that all members together will fulfill the tasks they have to fulfill.
During his speech, President Chan Santokhi addressed the role of the OKB as a guardian in the electoral process and in safeguarding democracy.
