Tunapuna police are investigating a report of a larceny of $158,000.
Loop News was told that at about 1.45pm on Monday, the victim – who is a financial consultant – went to a bank in Tunapuna where he met someone knows who worked at the bank.
The two had an agreement that they would exchange TT$158,000 for a quantity of US currency at a specified rate.
This exchange was to be done via a third party at the bank.
The victim arrived with the bag of money and handed over the cash to the individual he knew.
However, an hour later, the man returned and told the victim that the third party had not returned with the cash and could not be contacted. The police were immediately notified.
