Trinidad & Tobago: Mayaro murder victim was attacked twice before

Police believe that Joel Ellis, the 36-year-old mason who was shot dead at a job site in Mayaro on Tuesday morning, was the target of the shooters.

It was noted that between December 25 to 27, Ellis had survived two chopping incidents with men in the village.

As a result, it was suspected that the shooting may have been linked to a previous disagreement and the motive may have been revenge.

Residents in the Mafeking community are expected to be questioned as a result.

The shooting took place at a job site just after 9am yesterday and also resulted in two other people being shot.

Police were told the three victims were in the process of building a wall at a house located at Inner Mafeking Village when a man dressed in a red coverall, white facemask and fisher’s hat approached armed with a handgun and cutlass.
