A Jamaican man and a 63-year-old man were held by police in connection with charges of sex assault against minors.
In a statement today, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said the Child Protection Unit is investigating two separate matters involving the alleged sexual offences.
In the first incident with took place January 11, 2021, the TTPS said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) responded to a call from the Police Command Centre of an assault at Small Street, Success Village, Laventille.
On arrival at the location, the officers spoke to the parents of a 13-year-old teenager who reported that sometime during the month of June, 2020, a 63-year-old man known to the family sexually assaulted their daughter in their home.
During that period, it is alleged that the suspect threatened to kill the victim and members of her family if she said anything about the incident.
The officers detained the suspect who was found to be suffering from marks of violence and bleeding. The Emergency Health Services was contacted and the suspect was taken to hospital for treatment.
