Investigators are recommending that a 26-year-old man, who severely beat geriatric nurse Jada Pierre, be charged with the offence of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The offence is outlined in the Offences Against the Person Act, and persons found guilty can be liable for a term of imprisonment for 15 years.
The suspect, who is from Fyzabad, is expected to be charged today.
Pierre, of Bali Hosein Trace, Siparia, remained hospitalized in a critical condition up to this morning following an attack off Forest Reserve Road, Fyzabad.
The incident allegedly took place on Friday night. She was allegedly beaten with a hammer.
Pierre told police that her former boyfriend picked her up at her home around 3pm. He reportedly asked her to get back together, however, when she declined, he became upset.
