The suspect who surrendered himself following the murder of Suzette Sylvester is aiding police with their inquiries.
Police have since been told that Sylvester, 48, may have been killed with a hammer.
Sylvester, of Mowlah Road Extension, Preysal, was found dead just before 6am yesterday at her home.
She was last seen alive at 2am when she went to bed.
Loop News was told that shortly before Sylvester’s body was found relatives at the home heard a commotion at the house and they observed a man they knew fleeing the scene.
They then found her bleeding from multiple injuries. She appeared to have been beaten severely.
A post mortem is expected to be performed today pending a negative COVID-19 test.
The police and paramedics were notified, however, Sylvester succumbed to her wounds.
Loop News was informed that the couple had been heard arguing repeatedly over the weekend. However, it could not be confirmed if any reports were made to the police.
