Trinidad & Tobago: Hairdresser being questioned after Port of Spain fire

A 41-year-old hairdresser is expected to be questioned today on allegations that she set afire a hair salon along Independence Square, Port of Spain.

The woman told police that at about 1.15pm she and her 54-year-old landlord were at the hairdresser’s apartment/business place having a discussion.

It was said that the night before, thieves had broken into the apartment and stole a flat iron as well as other products.

The 41-year-old blamed robbery on a lack of proper secured doors on the compound and demanded that the 54-year-old land lord replace the stolen items. However, the land lord refused.

After further arguments, the woman allegedly in a fit of anger, began assaulting her landlord, before setting afire to items in her room.
