A two-year-old boy is the first fireworks victim of the year. On the second day of the fireworks firing period, the first victim was registered at the Emergency Department (SEH) of the Academic Hospital Paramaribo (AZP), reports the Information Department of the Suriname Fire Brigade (KBS).
The boy got burned to the face when others fired fireworks. The fireworks sales and firing period has been shortened by one day this season. The period is now from December 27 to January 1, 2021. To date, 41.40 foot firework containers have been escorted and inspected by the fire department.
The KBS calls on parents and / or carers to have extra supervision of their offspring during this period. The fire brigade did an orientation round this morning in Paramaribo-North at a number of fireworks sales points.
