The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) has ordered the St Catherine and Kingston locations of Russell’s T20 Restaurant and Sports Bar to close due to what it said were breaches of COVID-19 rules.
The restaurants, located at Shop 15 East Side Plaza, Old Harbour, St Catherine and 12 Dunrobin Avenue in St Andrew, were issued the notice Wednesday and were ordered closed with immediate effect.
In a statement, ODPEM said attention was drawn to the establishment after it committed breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Enforcement Measures Order by holding entertainment/night club activities.
“The business establishments Russell’s T20 Restaurant and Sports Bar are in clear violation of Section 14 subsection (11), which states that; during the period of December 1, 2020 to January 15, 2021, the following shall remain closed (a) all bars, except as provided in sub-paragraphs (13), (14), (15) and (16); and (b) all nightclubs and other places of amusement,” the statement said.
“In sub-paragraph (11) of the Orders, “places of amusement” means places open to the public, whether for a fee or free of charge, for the purpose of entertainment and (a) without limit to the generality of the foregoing, includes a club, discotheque, roller disco, or skate rink; (b) excludes establishments licensed under the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act,” it added.
