Suriname: Man arrested for Facebook fraud

The 46-year-old SK was arrested by the police of Geyersvlijt on December 11 for fraud via Facebook. The suspect published a message via Facebook that he rented a ground floor apartment. The tenant himself stayed in the upstairs apartment.

Some house hunters responded to the message and made an appointment with the landlord. The landlords already paid the requested amount at the agreed location. SK would tell people that he was still doing minor renovation work and that he was still fixing the air conditioning.

After receiving the amounts, he was no longer available from that time. In the meantime, five victims have reported fraud against SK. The suspect was tracked down and arrested. After consultation with the Public Prosecution
Service, the Facebook scammer was arrested.
