Opposition MP Dr Roodal Moonilal has slammed Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley for an “offensive” post on the Office of the Prime Minister’s Facebook account.
The post was deleted and the Prime Minister has since issued an apology.
The controversial statement made mention of the horrific murder of 18-year-old Ashanti Riley and claimed “imps and agents” in Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela have been spreading misinformation regarding the drownings of 20 Venezuelan nationals.
The post was described as “insensitive” and “distasteful” by many social media users.
In a statement on Tuesday evening, Moonilal accused the Prime Minister of using Ashanti’s murder to blame the Organization of American States (OAS) and Opposition members for what he called “an out of control Venezuelan migrant problem.”
