The action of the personnel at the Maritime Authority of Suriname (MAS) is getting grimmer. The management has denied some of the staff in action access to the site. When staff members went to work this morning they were confronted at the gate with a list of names of persons who were not allowed in. The list has been drawn up by the management. This has heated up the staff.
A board member of the union says he is indignant about Suriname Herald. Last night, both parties were invited by the Minister of Transport, Communication and Tourism (TCT), Albert Jubithana. During this interview, the minister listened to both parties and asked them to follow the path of dialogue. The board member had expected that this would be followed.
The intention was to meet again with the management this morning. To the surprise of the union, the staff were denied access to the site. “The director ignores the instructions of the minister,” says a rather disgruntled board member.
