Suriname: New declaration against former president Bouterse

Writer and musician Paul Middellijn has today filed a complaint against former president Desi Bouterse for the threatening statements that Bouterse allegedly made during a meeting in NDP party center Ocer last week.

Middellijn says in conversation with Suriname Herald that he is reporting as an individual citizen because according to him the Attorney General (pg) has not yet come up with a statement regarding the request by President Chan Santokhi to investigate the statements of Bouterse. Midline wants the pg to work on the matter.

In his declaration, he refers to passages from the column that was published on Suriname Herald on Saturday with the title “Bouterse risks an extra six years in prison” by columnists Sunil Sookhlall and Kries Mahabier.
