Opposition Leader and President of the People’s National Party (PNP) Mark Golding has named his ally and business partner Peter Bunting as the Shadow Minister for National Security in his just announced 19-member Shadow Cabinet.
Bunting, who previously served as Minister of National Security in the Portia Simpson Miller Administration of 2012 to 2016 has also been named the Leader of Government Business in the Senate as was previously reported by Loop News. He is expected to be sworn in as the eight Opposition Senator on Friday.
At the same time, South East St Andrew Member of Parliament Julian Robinson will shadow Finance, Planning and the Public Service. Golding previously shadowed the portfolio but, apart from his duties as Opposition Leader and PNP president, he will now shadow the Defence portfolio. The likelihood is that he gave up the finance portfolio to concentrate on unifying the party which has become increasingly divided following each contentious election for party president.
