Suriname: President nominates Khargi as the new Surinamese ambassador to the Netherlands

Despite all the criticism, President Chan Santokhi has decided to nominate Rajendre Khargi as the next ambassador of the Republic of Suriname to the Netherlands. The appointment will become effective once the Dutch government has granted agrément.

From a very wide range of candidates, the Santokhi government has guided its choice by two important characteristics: a broad network in Dutch society in business, political and cultural society and the analytical ability to quickly take the right steps to develop tangible to achieve results, based on the government’s intended goals in the context of recovery and intensification of relations with the Netherlands, the government writes in a statement.

“Rajendre Khargi has proven to meet these conditions throughout his career, partly due to his diplomatic skills. Especially in recent years he has been instrumental in establishing connections between the current president, the Dutch political world and Dutch business and civil society. ”
