The Trinidad and Tobago Medical Board has launched an investigation into racist comments made by Dr Avinash Sawh.
In a statement today, the Council said it deliberated the matter at its monthly meeting yesterday.
‘The Council, having deliberated at the monthly meeting held on November 11, has decided to follow due process and an investigation into the alleged behaviour of Dr Avinash Sawh has been initiated.’
The Board said: ‘As an initial step, correspondence will be sent to Dr Sawh seeking an explanation.’
The Council said is ‘strongly condemns any form of racial discrimination, racial slurs or verbal abuse by registered medical practitioners.’
‘These actions can be construed as infamous and disgraceful conduct on the part of a doctor as defined in the Medical Board Act.’
