Haiti: Fantom 509 Police Give Haiti’s Government Five Days To End Kidnappings

Fantom 509, a group of masked police officers, took to the streets Monday to denounce the spree of kidnappings in Port-au-Prince.

On the Tripotay Lakay Youtube channel, the Fantom 509 members claimed that the kidnappers are in touch with President Jovenel Moïse, Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe and Rameau Normil, the police force’s leader.

“Arrange with your bandits to stop the kidnappings in the country,” one Fantom 509 member said. “We give you guys five days.”

In the past, Fantom 509 gave the Haitian government eight hours to release a colleague who was arrested. When the government didn’t comply, the group set the Office of Identification on fire and burned government vehicles until he was released
