Suriname: Breaking: Bouterse resistance case postponed to November 30

The opposition proceedings against Desi Bouterse have been postponed to November 30. The Court-Martial has just announced this during the session. The Court-Martial is of the opinion that this is a resistance case and that Bouterse should therefore simply be present.

The Court Martial asked about the reason for Bouterse’s absence. Kanhai handed the Court Martial a letter at the start of the session to indicate why his client Bouterse cannot attend the session today. Bouterse’s counsel explicitly asked the Court Martial not to make the letter publicly known.

The Court Martial did not disclose the contents of the letter and postponed the hearing due to a force majeure situation.
