Trinidad & Tobago: Marabella teen feared drowned

A search is expected to resume this morning in the waters off Claxton Bay for 19-year-old Joshua Henry.

Henry, of Second Street, Battoo Avenue, Marabella, is feared to have drowned on Saturday afternoon.

According to police reports, at about 12:30pm, Henry was on a vessel with three others, when the boat experienced engine problems about 200 feet from shore at a makeshift port adjacent to the TCL jetty Claxton Bay.

As a result of the issue, one of the men told police he entered the sea and attempted to swim back to shore with a rope to secure the vessel. Henry followed him after offering to help.

About 100 feet from the boat, Henry got into difficulties. The other man attempted to assist the teenager, but he went under and has not been seen since.

Searches for Henry started that afternoon and on Sunday, but Henry has yet to surface.

The scene was visited by a team of officers including Insp Santana, Cpl Dhunkarie, PC seetaram, PC Sooknanan, and others.
