Suriname: President Santokhi promises Coronie development projects

In the Coronie district, President Chan Santokhi has promised the community that this government will be committed to promoting more and more development projects. The head of state discussed, among other things, the expansion of the marcausa project in this district. The approach to coco cultivation is also in the planning.

Furthermore, the government leader has cited possibilities for cheaply sourcing investment capital. He mentioned Trustbank Amanah and the SAMAP project. In his speech, reference was made to an overview of potential projects presented on October 4, 2020 during his visit with a government delegation to Coronie.

The construction of the police station, which was halted in 2010, will also resume. The president has also indicated that the government has a plan with which the issues in Suriname will be resolved. “We are already starting to gain confidence with that plan, as we are negotiating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), international institutions and large international companies that can source capital cheaply.”
