NYC: Police impersonators struck neighborhoods over the summer: NYPD

Two masked men — one of whom flashed a badge and claimed to be a cop — robbed a 45-year-old man of his cellphone, wallet and $900 in July, cops said Monday as they released surveillance video that shows the creeps at a nearby store.

The crime happened at around 8:30 p.m. on July 16 when the duo approached their victim at 16th Avenue and 77th Street in Gravesend, police said.

One of the men “displayed a silver police shield and demanded the victim remain still,” cops said. The two then forcibly took he victim’s belonging. There were no injuries.

The surveillance video shows the duo, one of them looking at a phone, walking into a store. Police said they were between 20 and 30 years old.

In an unrelated incident, cops said three individuals got into a Brooklyn residence through a window and identified themselves as cops before assaulting an 36-year-old man and 83-year-old man with a flashlight.
