NYC: Video shows bandit help woman into elevator — then rob her

An elevator bandit has struck at least twice in Upper Manhattan this month, following his victims into their lifts — even helping one of them before stealing $300 from her, NYPD video shows.

The incident depicted in surveillance footage shows a man wearing a black hat and a blue mask help the 56-year-old woman lift a container she is hauling up the entryway steps at 2825 8th Ave. in Harlem around 9 p.m. Sept. 19, cops said.

The man then stands around waiting for her to get on the elevator and follows right behind her.

As the victim tried to exit the elevator, the brute assaulted her and stole $300 before fleeing on foot, cops said. The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
